Centiva said it is taking steps to become greener. All of its products have earned the FloorScore rating for good indoor air quality. Additionally, the company said it is committing more than 20 percent of its operating profit on green initiatives this year.
"Centiva approaches environmentally responsible manufacturing in a holistic manner," said Thomas Trissl, Centiva's president. He noted that the company is conducting "extensive research into its processes" to become more efficient and eliminate more waste. This includes looking at everything from energy usage and product development and processes to the packaging itself.
The company's senior management team has also become more green-conscious, said Rhonda Ross, Centiva's exec. vp. This includes getting with business partners to review each step of the process. "We visit our stakeholders up and down stream from our production process," she said. "Being green and getting greener is about educating and getting educated.
"For Centiva it's about lifelong learning for the company and our partners. Our approach is not a committee or a program; it's systemic throughout the company," she concluded.
