Mohawk Industries is gearing up for phase two of its ambitious hardwood flooring rollout of over 150 SKUs this year. The company said this next phase, which is timed for the fall selling season, will focus on products featuring Scotchgard Protector Advanced Repel Technology.
Ben McNabb, Mohawk's brand manager for hard surface, residential, said the only products that will not feature the Scotchgard technology are hand-sculpted floors. The new products will be offered in a variety of species, including walnut, cherry, ash, maple and hickory, primarily in the company's Lineage and Revival collections.
McNabb said the products are going to begin shipping at the end of the month. "We're getting these products out to the front-end aligned dealers first, then Portico [Mohawk's builder brand], followed by the open lines," McNabb said. "Solid products are going to follow a little bit behind the engineered floors."
He said that the company offers an added benefit on many of its hardwood floors. Specifically, floors manufactured from the Danville, Va.-based plant feature PureBond, a special technology that ensures no formaldehyde additives were used in the making of the flooring. Currently, Mohawk is the only company that offers the PureBond technology, McNabb told NFT.
"Columbia Forest Products owns the rights to the PureBond name, but we're going to have it exclusively in our products for a short amount of time," McNabb said.
