The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) said its latest standard and reference guide for mold remediation has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The standard, S520, is the second ANSI-approved standard for the IICRC. The group also has a water damage restoration standard previously approved by the accreditation organization.
“This accomplishment represents another milestone in cementing the credibility and expertise of the IICRC and its registrants,” said Ruth Travis, president of the IICRC. “It’s taken a lot of hard work by very dedicated professionals to get this completed.”
The S520 has been under revision for more than four years. It will be printed in the coming weeks and will be available for industry distribution and use by mid September, the group noted.
“The IICRC Standards Committee wants to especially thank the S520 Consensus Body for its diligence and patience during a very difficult revision process,” said IICRC Standards Committee Chair Barry Costa.
