Following the Milan Triennale during I Saloni 2008, the
Ceramic Tiles of Italy Architectural Food exhibit, promoted by Confindustria
Ceramica and organized by Edi.Cer. Spa, is being hosted in the Bologna trade
fair Services Center during the entire Cersaie exhibition (Sept. 30-Oct. 4).
The Italian designers involved with
the Architectural Food exhibit range in age from 30 and 40, and are “the great
hope for our future, young people in whom Confindustria Ceramica has chosen to
invest,” explained the association’s chairman Alfonso Panzani.
Coordinated by curator Aldo
Colonetti, the exhibition explores Italy’s industrial culture and cultural
traditions. The designers use mass-produced products to explore the theme of
food, one of Italy’s many traditional values.

Colonetti commented: “As ceramic is a material that lends
itself to design, we endeavored – perhaps a little audaciously – to combine
ceramic tiles and food in an innovative design project.”
Colonetti further went on to say, “All the materials feature in companies’ catalogs, proving that even
mass-produced products can be used in highly creative solutions.”
The exhibit features 11 projects:
Adriano Design for Edilcuoghi Ceramiche, Enrico Azzimonti for Casalgrande
Padana, Dodo Arslan for Polis Manifatture Ceramiche, Lorenzo Damiani for
Antiche Fornaci d’Agostino, Odoardo Fioravanti for Majorca, Nicola Gallizia for
Florim Ceramiche, Lorenzo Gecchelin for Ragno, Luca Nichetto for Marazzi,
Matteo Ragni for Etruria design, Maurizio Sala for Emilceramica, and Silvia
Suardi and Sezgin Aksu for Ceramica di Vietri Francesco De Maio.
